Good pic. As you say, the face says it all. I've also done the route twice and experienced very different conditions. The second time required "tunnelling". Fortunately an enthusiastic young chap was almost done with the burrowing when we arrived. Made for an interesting climb following his snow tube.

It was a narrow funnel when i climbed this route which is rather unique in Scottish winter climbing. However we found the exit onto the plateau very testing as it was all vertical sugar and about the same resistance. We did have a beautiful day though so have to be grateful for that.

Those were the days, snow, ice etc. Hopefully we'll get a decent winter this time round

We climbed it again in 1975, in good conditions, through the ice tunnel. Terrodactyls were carried but rarely needed...felt like a completely different route, straight forward but still very enjoyable.
