The Vercors seems out of favour and this magnificent cliff is not even in the UKC directory. I had a marvellous 10 days climbing with Simon Donowho there, I subsequently did another route The Pillier du Levant with Dore Green in 1993, not as elegant as the Livanos but a bit harder; both routes TD+

I agree. Fantastic area. Nice pic. I did the Palois Rouge with Claude Deck (Sec of CAF) in May 1974 when I was with an ACG team as guests of the CAF. Brilliant!!

Thanks Andy. About the same time as I became an ACG member, 1973. It was Claude who in due course suggested I postulate for the GHM, 1976. I like that photo of you on the Rébuffat in big boots.

Hi John
Thats interesting that you had a connection with Claude Deck! Thanks also for your comments about my photo of the Rebuffat route on the Midi South face. Its actually my partner Keith Butler climbing. I took the picture. We did them all in big boots in those days, didn't we. They all seem to do these routes in rock boots now!
