One of many great routes in San Martin de Valdeiglesias, an extensive crag of over 100 routes on excellent quality, well featured granite. The style of climbing is completely different to the nearby more popular area of La Pedriza, as the granite is much more featured, providing some excellent gently overhanging face climbing in some of the sectors. The quality and variety of the climbing is impressive, and could certainly provide a full week of quality routes.
The crag is just a 1 hour drive from Madrid, but so far is uncharted on UKC. There is variety of well bolted routes ranging from 5 to 8b all overlooking a stunning reservoir (great for a post climb swim) and on one side an untouched nature reserve.
Information is available online at http://www.braulioexposito.com/CROQUIS%20ERMITA%20VIRGEN%20DE%20LA%20NUEVA_categoria_15.html or you can buy a rustic sketch of the area from one of the local bars in San Martin.

The walls range from 10m to 35m and the crag hosts both shady and sunny walls, the latter being perfectly suitable for a mid winter climbing trip. To get a better look at the surrounding area and get a flavour of the climbing and situation check out my video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aATZWzPd1C0&t=3s
