Karrimor Alpiniste 1983/84 ish? Not much used these days, but still a super carry for big loads. Bombproof.

I had the original Alpiniste when they came out in about 1977 (I think there was a simpler one called the Vallot?).
Great pack, plenty big enough to carry far more kit than you could possibly need in The Alps !! Gave it away to some Russian guys on an exchange visit to the SWMC in the mid 80's after drinking some really good vodka.

Built for durability. Not like today's rubbish.

I had a similar one, then saw it in the Window of Joe Browns in Llanberis, along with a Hawser Rope (which was my Ab rope) Labelled ‘antiques’. I have been back in the shop since ????

Still got mine. Battered and bruised minus all the faff, repaired so many times, but faithfull and trustworthy just like a partner should be in times of need. A classic rucksack and I can tell you as a person that worked at Karrimor when its was a proper Institution in old Accy, we had more of these rucksacks back asking for repair and not replacement than all the others combined. And what an enigmatic colour back in the day..
