On the summit of Scafell at dusk after climbing Morning Wall. Jim had no crampons and had a hard time traversing iron hard nevé in the cwm under the N face and up to Mickledore, so we reckoned it might be easier to descend via Scafell Pike and Sty Head, rather than descend it in the dark. No crampons in January in these conditions: /photos/dbpage.php?id=136347 What was he thinking?!
