The new purpose built footpath to Quadrocks, North Ayrshire. Theres even steps round the side leading to the upper crag. Picnic bench at the top to follow.

Jeezo, that's a substantial path! Who are they trying to get up there? I can see the chances of a quiet hour or two cragging there again will have diminished substantially. Wonder when the planning for this was approved on such a visible hillside...

The whole area is part of the Halkshill estate project. It will create a massive woodland extending from the back of the quadrocks. It's not just the usual spruce but natural woodland as well. They have created pathways and tracks throughout the area and it does seem to be attracting more folks to visit the area. The whole area is enclosed in deer fencing with self closing gates so the sheep are now only on the lower slopes out with.

Wow! What a difference from picking your way up through bracken and sheep **** on the steep hillside (although, I will genuinely miss that). Where does the new path start from, and what's the parking situation?

Park at top new carpark at Inverclyde sports centre. Through pedestrian gate onto new footpath. The picture is from the other end and is much longer.
