why is your belayer 10 ft off the ground?

Safest place for him to be - if I'd screwed up the upper slab (crux), he'd jump backwards too. Heck of a confidence boost for the upper section!

gear in the flake? ..what was that then? would it hold? I can't remember seeing anything remotely possible there...( but then my rack is 20 years old!)

It was either a #1 & 3 micro-Friend (according to a mate), or an RP or two (which is what I have in). I truly doubt any of them would've held, but my second reckoned the RPs definitely would've at least taken a slump.
