great photo but looks tilted please correct me if iam wrong
koolkat - 07/Feb/07
must have been the way I held the camera with one hand to shoot across...:-)
Heike - 07/Feb/07
Aye, it does look a bit tilted. Nice looking ice.
Norrie Muir - 07/Feb/07
Yeah, it was more slabby then that! But nice thin ice - fantastic route by the way!
Heike - 07/Feb/07
Nice atmospheric photo! was this from the big flake belay first pitch?
dek - 07/Feb/07
Fabulous picture. Looks hard!
Tim Chappell - 08/Feb/07
No, dek, it was from the belay after the 2nd pitch.
Heike - 08/Feb/07
Fabulous shot - the mist below adds to the feeling of fear...

Not so sure about the tilt but a very striking photograph, not easy to take in the circumstances, I imagine. Well done.

Is there any chance you could rotate this (then crop as necessary)? I feel it would make it a much better picture. Thanks

This would be a great photo if it was as steep as photo angle. The obvious tilt really does detract from shot and I've voted accordingly. I think you'll you'll struggle to realign and keep the context based on what you've left to play with. Looks like you had a great day out.
lewis10 - 11/Feb/07
Hi Kevin and Lewis, this is how I took the photo, I didin't rotate it or anything (just took it whith one hand whilst holding on to the ropes with the other). I am not a professional photographer (so, don't ask me to tilt and crop and chop - as I can just about upload a picture!) This is just a snap of what I did with my mate. The route was bloody good and if not exactly the right angle, I still think it captures the essence of the route, that's why I posted it.

Hey Heike. Great shot, it must bring it all back. Leave the photo as it is, it's great. This is what UKC images should be all about.
ChrisJD - 11/Feb/07
Looks very like Jeremy is kneeling in almost the horizontal plane, probably about 20 - 30 degrees slope. Note the hills in the background. Snow does not lie in indentations in the ice on vertical faces, and the rope is defying gravity. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe its a fake! Turn it through 90 degrees clockwise and you'll see what I mean. C'mon admit it Heike, the joke's over.
dxcamer - 12/Feb/07
dxcamer, what are you on about?? You clearly have never climbed on any steep walls up on the Ben, never mind Pschedelic wall - there is always/often snow on the indentations in the ice and there are no hills in the background, it's on a steep cliff high up on the Ben, you couldn't go any higher, if you top out your at the summit shelter of the Ben, highest point in the UK.
Otti - 12/Feb/07
Cracking photo and what looks like a cracking route. To my shame I've done a grand total of zero routes on the Ben. I'll have to rectify that this year.

Ok, I win,I reckon this picture is a take on the Monty Python Sketch (of climbing up the High Street)
The Pylon King - 14/Feb/07
Heiki, thats a GREAT photo...nowt more to be said really. If it were mine I'd have that framed on the wall!
Ollie Clem - 16/Feb/07
my partner has been trying to convince me that this photo is faked- taken and turned 90 degrees etc...
however compared to http://www.ukclimbing.com/images/dbpage.html?id=62290 of the same route it looks pretty realistic. Great shot Heike
