Gordon weighing up the problems of the start, belayed by fellow author Steve Dean. Peter Harding came up the climb as third on the rope (see separate photo)
Tower Face is very high in the grade, with a tricky boulder problem start over a small overhang with only a dubious nut for protection, then very pumpy and sustained on quite poor holds. A magnificent classic (by Kirkus I think, or it may have been Kelly)

If you mean a sling for protection, no such luck. You just have a token Rock 2 or some such swivelling around in a very worn crack. If you fall off that tricky move and that comes out you're going to hurt yourself quite badly there.
