Think the old boys of the past had an advantage by using steel krabs to weigh down slings!!!

Not a bad idea. You could clip the wires to the sling incase they were lifted out by any tension. Saves them going dowm the cliff.

Not the most gear-rich of belays is it - I seem to recall climbing a bit further up to find something else (with the remaining 3 foot of rope I had!). Not quite as creative as you however :-).

no, not what you might call bomber. even more unnerving when you consider the lack of gear on the pitches as well!
