Ascent Training is a company providing outdoor instruction. We are based in the South Lakes, though work regularly in Scotland and the Yorkshire Dales, and managed by Paul Platt who holds the MIC and CIC awards. All courses are run by either Paul or other very experienced, well qualified outdoor instructors. Please see the website for more information.Apex Training is also directed by Paul Platt. Apex has the sole aim of delivering quality NGB award courses. So we run 18 Mountain Leader courses each year and a number of Single Pitch Award Courses. Caving Awards are now also on the programme.
Paul Platt is Chair of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI). An active climber and mountaineer. I live in the South Lakes with my wife and two children.

Best Climbing Experience
Hard to say really. Probably pulling on the last small hold to reach a belay on the Fish on the south face of the Marmalada. Otherwise great days out with clients and friends summer or winter.
