Born in 1945, I grew up in and around London where I qualified and worked as an Electrical Engineer. I then qualified as a Physical Education Teacher and worked as an Outdoor Activities Instructor for over 30 years, mostly in centres belonging to Edinburgh Education Authority or Lothian Region, retiring from instructing in 2002.

I have climbed extensively at home and abroad in America, Canada, Norway, Spain, Austria, Switzerland and France. 4000m peaks - 12, Highest peak - Mt Blanc, Munro total - 210. Rock climbing standard - average.

We also set up and then ran Newtonmore Hostel in 1992, selling the business and retiring in 2012. After taking our time to decide what we wanted to do; two grandchildren in East Lothian settled it, and we moved to North Berwick in 2018. I am really enjoying spending the time cycling, walking, keeping fit and of course seeing our grandchildren. I would be delighted to hear from any old friends or acquaintances, give me a call, and we could spend a day on the hill, go for a coffee or out on the bike (mind you, it needs to be a nice day). Look up my website for contact details or...."find me on Facebook"

Kathryn & I walk many miles together (nothing technical nowadays).

Our eldest son, Andy is a keen climber and a brilliant photographer. Our youngest son Duncan qualified as snowboarding Instructor, is keen on ski mountaineering (split-board).

About My Photography
I own a Nikon D50 and a small Canon. The digi revolution had revitalised my interests in photography. Really enjoy taking loads of photos and then working on them using the computer.
