Reset: Part 1 - Indoor Bouldering after the Covid-19 Lockdown

This weekend, climbing walls can reopen and businesses up and down the country have been diligently preparing for returning customers. The Covid-19 pandemic has hit the climbing industry hard, and it is certainly not out of the woods yet. We caught up with Ged at the new Matchworks Climbing Hangar in Liverpool to look at what measures bouldering walls could implement to keep customers and staff safe.

The Association of British Climbing Walls (ABC) has been working with their member climbing walls since the beginning of lockdown on reopening guidelines – a strategy based on three principles:

  •  Hygiene
  •  Capacity Management
  •  Social Distancing

Use of liquid chalk as a hand sanitizer is not clear cut, as normally needs water present as well. According to an article in www.climber.co.uk anyway.
