276 pages long and containing 785 routes from Diff to E8 and F8a, the new Moelwynion & Cwm Lledr guidebook published by the Climbers' Club covers the cliffs and crags surrounding Blaenau Ffestiniog and Dolwyddelan.
Easily accessible, but often overlooked for better-known venues further to the North and West of Snowdonia, the area boasts a variety of crags and climbing from urban sport-climbing venues to high-mountain cliffs (and everything in between). Mostly volcanic in origin, the rock is generally sound and rough in texture: the quality of the climbing will surprise those new to the area.
Some venues, such as Craig y Clipiau and Carreg Alltrem, will be familiar to many; but there are many quality venues, such as Carreg y Foel Gron and Clogwyn yr Adar, that are little-known and rarely-visited. The area has seen a flurry of activity in recent years throughout the grade range and a number of crags and many new routes not previously recorded are included in the guide.
The usual high standard maps, photo-diagrams and action photos associated with Climbers' Club publications are also included, along with a detailed history of climbing in the area, conservation notes and geology.
