For many climbers summer is the time of year that is most looked forward to. Long days on sun drenched (or rain washed...) sea cliffs, evenings on gritstone, after-work cragging on your local outcrop. Brilliant.
But for some, the lure of the white stuff is never far from their mind. Scottish winter is a burning passion, and the summer months are endured so that come November, the arms are still strong, and the tools can be sharpened.
To help all those winter climbers out there keep the psyche, here's a clip of the irrepressible Nick Bullock (if someone does figure out a way to repress him - drop us a line).
The clip (from James Dunn Visuals - good work James!) is of Nick making the first full winter ascent of an alternative direct finish to the classic mixed route Pic 'n Mix, Coire an Lochain, Northern Corries, Cairngorm.
His new route The Mindless Finish (IX,10) was climbed on the first day of the 2012
BMC
winter meet.
