Peter, who I'm proud to say is my grandfather in law, is setting out on this ride in August, a few days after he turns 90. He did it aged 80 and 85 so he knows what he's up against.

He's raising money for two homelessness charities: Access Community Trust and the Salvation Army. 100% of the money he raises is going to the charities; he's funding the costs of the ride entirely himself.

If anyone could spare some pennies, here is the donation page: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/peterlangford

Thanks

Is he going for the official record for oldest person to do it? I think the current record was set last year (85 yrs and 355 days).

Someone looked into it with Guinness but their requirements were pretty onerous - no one allowed to ride within 100m of him for example. Friends and family are riding with him most of the way.

Not long now! He's setting off on Tuesday.

Peter's progress so far. As you can see he went down to the Lizard so he can claim the most southernly point.

I trust he’ll be finishing at Dunnet Head, then, not JoG.

I asked him this and the answer is he's doing both. "South to north and end to end."

He's done it! And is yet to hit his fundraising target if anyone would like to donate https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/peterlangford

There's another body - sorry can't remember the name - rather than Guinness who are more authentic curators of British cycling records. There are a bunch of still rules though. Discussed at length in this book...

Edit: well done on the ride!
