Oh no, I'm having a flash back to encounters had while walking down through the woods in Bristol to get to the bottom of the Avon Gorge climbs from the downs :-O
I've heard that in previous years too, and at this time of year- which makes me think it's rutting stags. I think there are fallow deer in the woods opposite, but don't think there are boar there.
I've seen boar several times in the woods west of the A466 between St Arvans and Tintern, but never on the Piercefield side of the road. There are penty of deer in both areas, all the way down to the river, so they're very likely to be what we hear from Wintour's.
