Great half day's via ferrata for anyone who's flying in to Venice/Treviso and heading up to the Dollies: https://www.ferrate365.it/vie-ferrate/ferrata-della-memoria-vajont/
Total time around 4-4.5 hours round trip.
Nice new well-equipped ferrata. Steep in places with impressive exposure and some fairly challenging moves that are not perhaps for beginners. Already a wee bit polished unfortunately as it's very popular.
Fairly new via ferrata opened on 2015. An hour's drive from Venice airport just 5 mins off the main drag for Cortina just above the town of Longarone.
Approach is along 2 horizontal tunnels a good 80m long. Needs a torch. Instant massive exposure after exiting the two tunnels!
Ferrata ascends in view of the Vajont dam, scene of a huge disaster back in 1963 when the mountain collapsed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vajont_Dam
Two options to get back to the car after topping out: ascend a bit and then descend to dam ('diga'). Then follow road back to car park. Not much fun cos you have to walk through road tunnels. Better option is to ascend really nice trail west, then descend trail north (signpost "Codissago) to reach the road at a switchback which leads back to car in about 15 mins.
