Hi my partner 73 years and I 66 years are back here after 17 years to do C2C again. She has a foot injury and can only walk short sections from Shap to Richmond. We have a car so some flexibility.
any suggestions for shortish loop walks along the way so we can get a feel for what it was like. Will be back again in future we hope to do it properly. Thanks

Buy the C2C Harvey Maps (2). for the route.  As they include a very wide 'corridor',. of the route and adjacent footpaths/bridleways etc., they'll show you where you can do loop walks.

Activity maps on Strava website are good for spotting busier routes that people chose for some good reason.

Trailforks and Komoot too.

There is a beautiful short loop at Smardale near Kirkby Stephen, managed by Cumbria Wildlife Trust, the CtoC crosses it. There are also many options in Swaledale, eg Kisdon Hill circular and walks from Keld and Muker.
