Lower Crag at Gowbarrow - Serious Rockfall

I have had a phone call today from Ken Ratcliffe, National Trust Warden, to say that there has been a big rockfall on the Lower Crag at Gowbarrow (aka Yew Crag 414 205, page 236 of the FRCC Buttermere and Eastern Crags). This is the buttress that has bolt belays and is used by groups, and administered by Ullswater OB.

The routes on the lowest tier were all incredibly polished as I recall.

My 1st MVS was The Whistler which is on a higher tier. I hope this has survived though there had been rockfall nearby only a few years back IIRC.

In reply to JonC: It's at the right hand side of the bottom tier, not the tier where the Whistler is.
