alternative to tech wash

hey just wondering whats a cheap alternative to using nikwax tech wash... ive heard people mention soad flakes. Can anyone recommend something specific?

Pure soap flakes of any manufacture - but DON'T use detergent!!

In reply to KN: Tescos sell some called 'Grannys' or something similar. I use that for most things and keep techwash for the really expensive stuff.

Just use tallow sodium neutralised tallo-fatty acids instead of detergent. The precursor to surfactants. Mmmmnnnn beef fat...

Amazing what we wash our clothes in.

Granny's pure soap flakes from your local big shop.
I use it for most stuff and keep tech wash for shell jackets etc.
A good tip is to dissolve the flakes in some hot water first and add the liquid to the machine. This way you won't get claggy lumps of soap stuck in the workings.
Also don't use too much or foam will come out of all your machines crevices.
