If you are between 18 and 25 years old you can take advantage of a great opportunity to develop your Scottish Winter Mountaineering skills with Plas y Brenin thanks to The Godfrey Jackson Memorial Award.
Godfrey Jackson was a keen mountaineer committed to helping young people to climb. Following his untimely death, Godfrey's family set up a trust fund, which now helps young people (18-25) gain experience on snow and ice.
The Godfrey Jackson Memorial Award runs a stand-alone five-day Winter Skills course at Alltshellach, Plas y Brenin’s base in Scotland and heavily subsidises the price to help young people afford this level of training.
Spending five days with Plas y Brenin’s instructors would normally set you back around £600 but in this instance you pay just £174 and The Godfrey Jackson Memorial Award picks up the difference.
There’s no catch. The same instructors, equipment, accommodation and all your meals thrown in, just a much smaller price ticket.
