In reply to Dr Caterpillar: I'd go for a 4 camalot definitely for Lofoten. And if you don't need it (which you will) you could resell it on here

Can't recollect ever using anything that large.

I'd have thought that a number 11 hexcentric would do just fine. If you learn to place them properly, they can be made active in parallel sided cracks.

Haven't used Hexes of any size for 20 years!

Its a useful bit of kit to have anyway. I don't recall placing one on Lofoten but I do miss my old #4 since it went AWOL on Hoy last year.

But what do you use to fight off the seagulls?

In reply to davidbeynon:

Actually that isn't true, last year I leant my cams to someone one day and used a set of Hexes just for the Hell of it; - primitive!

In reply to Chris Craggs:

Hexes are only an extension of wires - being equally primitive, do you not use them either ?

In reply to GrahamD:

Wires are fine, just can't get on with the fiddly faff of getting Hexes to sit and lock nicely, let alone cam properly. Use to use them all the time of course - "Cow Bellz R Us" - but I would much rather "plug in a unit" to use an Americanism!

On the Ape, by Kalle camp ground. The softest 6 tick in the book and well protected with a few bigger cams!
