So heres the idea, I already have a Montane Extreme Smock which I love dearly but is only really practical for me here in Canada once the temp drops below -10c. Otherwise its usually just too, too hot to spend any time on the move in even with no base layer - its generaly a dry, sunny cold so the Montane can be overkill at anything more than -10. But i do love the breathability and the no fuss layer thing. I recently got a great deal on a Patagonia Ascentionist soft shell for summer alpine stuff and am wondering that if I can pair this with the right under layer I might have a "light" version of the Montane that i can use in slightly warmer winter temps. I know 2 layesr is a compromise versus 1 nut if its workable id be interested. I'm guessing something pile or thick morino. One under layer max for this experiment! Any suggestions or ridicule is welcome. Cheers!
