Thinking of buying my first rope, and i've seen the edlinger 10.2 x 50m for sixty quid. Is it worth buying, or is it terrible? I can't afford much more than that, but don't want to waste my money if it's crap. Anybody out there have any opinions, or experiences with these ropes?

Sounds like a bargain to me.

I've had a couple of Edlingers as they sell them in a Decathlon near me at very decent prices. They have both been mega durable and i'm still using one of them. The other was destroyed when it was cut in a rockfall.
In reply to iain_cbr: Yup good deal and a decent rope. Handles nice and is good to belay with. Had mine two years and still sound.

My first rope (in 1997!) was an edlinger - it was good.

In reply to iain_cbr: sounds like a good deal to me, Beal ropes are a good make and 10.2 should be hard wearing

I'm on my 2nd, and will make it 3 when this one dies (not looking like any time soon!)

it's a good rope for a good price, the only thing i'd say against it is that 60 m could be useful if you can get it for a equally good price.
