I'm checking out prices for sleeping bag and can get a good price on a Rab quantum 400 from Outside, it is however a womens model. How exactly does this affect the cut? Is it likely to be O.K for a slim (ish) 6ft dude?

Thanks.

Check the length, womens ones are generally shorter, and it's a standard women's length bag I very much doubt would be long enough for you- I'm 5 foot 5 and my ME womens' bag is a little too long but not that much.

Different model, but if you look here,
http://www.equipuk.com/rab_sleepingbags/range_ascent.html
RAB's standard bags are designed for up to 190cm tall and womens' ones are for up to 175 cm (making reasonable assumption that they're the same length across the range)

It says that it's 195cm x 75cm, not sure if it's narrower somewhere...

Usually shorter and stay wide until past hips.

I think you will find it too short in the length and too narrow across the shoulders.

Women's bags are often also wider at the hips and have more insulation around the feet than "mens" bags.

Oh well, worth a try!

In reply to fried: have a look for mountain equipment xtra long bags,

they come up slim and at 6ft you would need the long model
