anyone have any experience of increasing water-resistance of a polyamide light shell jacket like the Rab RV?

I'm thinking of chucking mine in the washing machine with some Nikwax to see what happens.
In reply to MahBumble: it won't make it waterproof but will make the water repel for a time.

In reply to higherclimbingwales: yeah i figured waterproofing not possible, but just looking to stop it soaking up damp in the lightest of rains!
In reply to MahBumble:

If you want to wear it next to the skin, and rely on the micropile lining to wick sweat away, I'd advise against a wash-on treatment.

The micropile lining is similar to Paramo's 'pump liner', only with teh reveresed orientation. So your proofed liner may pump water back to your skin...
