Is that Magnum, or blue thunder?
 Alastair Lee 02 Nov 2010
In reply to Max factor: You mean 'blue steel'? Wasn't Blue Thunder a police helicopter TV show?

In reply to Alastair Lee:

"It's the search for that feeling of invincibility that I strive for"

It's that feeling of invincibility that gets people killed.

In reply to dunkymonkey17: If Outdoor Research Marketing get to read this, here's my thoughts.

I think what's wrong with this picture is it looks like Dave is in a Studio, if he was standing somewhere in Langdale (etc..) it would look natural. Dave doesn't look "In his natural habitat".

We all admire Dave for his lack of Sponsorship, ( Personally , I think Dave is the most Admired English climber of his generation.)

I don't have a problem with sponsorship myself, Dave deserves it, at least he gets out and does stuff.
I'm pretty damm certain that any money he makes from this (if he has) will be spent on climbing, and given the above, I wish success to Dave and Outdoor Research for sponsoring him.

Doesn't seem to have done Dave much harm.

i dunno, i read an article about him trying to onsight an E8 after a day of hard climbing. Bounce testing two RP's which broke, trying to climb it anyway, getting stuck and nearly dying. Admittedly 'nearly' is a key word in that sentence, but it sounds like he came pretty damn close.

Good day out then yes?

He really looks unhappy, anyway no E9 climber wears gloves.

In reply to Outdoor Research: hahaha - www.outdoorresearch.co.uk - we all know its the mountain boot company really, AKA "British licenced distributors."

The question to my mind, do OR help with UK branding campaigns or do TMBC push this themselves? That would be very very expensive no?

Since when has Dave had a lack of sponsorship?

eg: http://www.scarpa.co.uk/team/blogs.asp?TeamID=19 and http://www.ukclimbing.com/articles/page.php?id=1811 (list of sponsors at bottom of article)
