Could anyone recommend a good lightweight sleeping bag for use on alpine climbs in the alps this summer? Im after something that packs down as small as possible. Any ideas?

Macpac 300sf - very warm for it's size/weight but whether it would suit you ??

Not a big fan of the short zip but if you want light then....

In reply to southernclimber: I can recommend the sleeping bags from Cumulus..They are affordable, very toasty and packs down to a very small size too..

see http://www.sleepingbags-cumulus.com for info (however, you need to order via their UK stockist -but their homepage sucks big time!)

I'd also look at PHD. The minimus would fit the bill. I've a Minim 300 (which is slightly heavier - 300g of down) with a Drishell outer. I've not used it in an alpine environment yet, only on Mountain Marathons where it has been surprisingly warm and weather proof.

In reply to Richard Hall: Second that - got a couple of the WM bags and a PHD one. The workmanship and materials of the WM bags are better than the PHD. The WM Versalite lighter than the PHD Hispar 500 but noticeably warmer. Also the zips on the Hispar jam as they havent sewn in a hardfaced strip, which WM do.
