Hi,
Has anyone any negative experience from using a self equalising fig 8 knot or a bunny ears knot to anchor with? I have used both but have always been concerned about the movement of the knot if the load moves around or one piece of the anchor fails. This seems to generate a nylon-on-nylon rub which might not be rope friendly.
Thanks.

Hi David

There was a thread on this on rc.com about using the 8 to dynamically equalise anchors which I pull tested and not suprisingly the equalisation was appalling as the friction was so high. As to whether you can melt the knot if one anchor fails is something to be drop tested, I shall try to include it in the next lot I do, hopefully sometime next week.
For equalisation better anyway was to tie a normal loop using a fig 8 and clip a krab into the upper bends of the knot, clip the loop into both anchors and then between them into the krab.

Thanks for that Jim.

In reply to jimtitt: Jim, you might like to make some of those drops with the fig8 very unequalised for the direction of the pull.
