Hi
Anyone got any suggestions for winter crags that you can do half reasonably by public transport...?
I know borrowdale is doable on the bus, and i know some buses wont run if its too snowy :S

cheers for any help

In reply to dunnyg: hellvelyn and surrounding area can be done pretty easily. with a very handy youth hostel so you can be ready for an early start.

In reply to dunnyg:

Get on the Keswick to Ambleside bus and get off at the top of Dunmail Raise. Easy access to Brown Cove Crags / Tarn Crag/ Helvellyn/ Falcon Crag etc.

In reply to Oceanic: Brown cove looks like a good shout.
cheers ! Still welcome any further ideas though, the more crags that are doable the more likely one thats in conditions will be one of them

In reply to dunnyg: Helvellyn generally is easily done from the 555 (but Thirlspot is the stop for Brown Cove crags- not dunmail which is for Tarn/Falcon Crag). From the top of Dunmail you can with a bit of a walk also get over to the Deepdale crags. Also limited service to patterdale for Rampsgill Head
Great End and Gable Crag are quite doable from the Borrowdale bus 78.
Not sure if the bus to Dungeon Ghyll in Langdale runs in the winter.
