Thinking of cutting down my trekking poles so that they fit inside my rucksack. Anyone had any experiences, pitfalls?

I've got BD Trail poles with the flicklock fastenings.

Cheers

Plumber's pipe cutter's make a really neat job of cutting alloy tent poles and trekking poles - if not a hacksaw. Not so sure about your flick lock fittings though!!!!

In reply to Malpractise: wont they fit if you pull them fully apart?

That's what I do to pack them into my duffle when flying.
