Whats the deal with these things they seem like a good idea but will the zip at the back burst open at the slightest pressure? anybody had experience with them?

In reply to Yorkshire_Lad:

The seem to work pretty well if you keep them upright but don't have too much pressure on them. Having said that I have seen them come open when squashed too much.

I use a couple of Big Zips and they have never 'burst' on me. Much easier to clean, much easier to dry and can fit loads of ice in the top if you want.

In reply to Yorkshire_Lad: Another advantage of them is that they are easier to fill from a stream. Don't have one myself but one of my friends does and she's had no problems with it but I wouldn't want to put too much pressure on it just incase.

Zips never burst on me and they carry loads, easy to clean etc. etc.

BUT! They're really vulnerable to punctures when full; the four corners at the base proove very vulnerable to scuffing if your carrying it through a rocky place. I've used 3 platy-patches on mine so far. For carrying such a large quantity of water I'll look elsewhere next time.
