 Topic - Gear help: what is this?

Has anyone come across anything like this before? If so, what's it for?
Screwgate is rated at 25kn, the only other mark says '6-8' on the triangular attachment, the only other markings is the serial thing.

This has been sitting on the side for a while, I've no idea where it's come from and I've been meaning to ask the hive mind of UKC for a while! |
