Topic - Mountain Instructor wanted for hillwalking skills weekend

K Mckay - on 30 Jun 2012
As the new president of Leeds University Hiking Club, I am organising a training weekend for new committee members from the 8th-9th September this year. We are an enthusiastic group of 9 all with a descent level of hillwalking experience, some with more extensive experience including leading groups, ML award, climbing, winter and alpine mountianeering. The idea of the weekend is to refresh everyone's skills and bring everyone up to speed before the year ahead. The topics I would like to cover over the 2 days include navigation, simple rope techniques, group management, weather, environmental and water hazards. We would be happy for the weekend to take place in either the Lake District or Snowdonia. We will sort out transport and accommodation ourselves, it is just the guiding we require. If you are able to offer your services, please contact me at dn09kfm@leeds.ac.uk. Cheers!
