What are the best boots or long climbing days out?
Thanks
Woodsy
In reply to woodsy: at the risk of sounding frivolous, the true answer is... ones that fit you
In reply to higherclimbingwales: But, of course, that really doesn't answer your question. go to a shop that stocks a wide range of B2 boots, in particular look for brands like Scarpa, La Sportiva, Meindl, Lowa et al

In reply to woodsy: Fit is the most important thing. Don't b swayed by a cheaper pair. In soles can make a difference to. Each model in each brand fit very differently try loads on. Personally I love la sportiva

In reply to mattc: another vote for la sportiva

I still use these,

as the review says, absolutely bloody brilliant.

What I want to know is if there is anything as good these days?

In reply to woodsy: For wider fitting feet scarpa charmoz all day long

In reply to Darkskys:
La sportiva - any of their Trango boots - got three different pairs - trek, Trango S and the Evo GTX. All brilliant for my feet.
Scarpa - pure evil for my feet.
As other ay it is all about the fit not the brand. This is what infuriates me about 'best in test' reviews in mags

In reply to marmot hunter: I know what you mean...paid for some Nepals for winter last year that destroyed my feet, just a bit too narrow.

So more or less, check what's going to work best dude

In reply to woodsy: cheers for the suggestions
The reason I asked is that a couple of weeks ago I wore a pair of ill fitting 3 season boots on corvus and they were super shitty bendy so over last two days on grey crag & gillercombe wore my winter boots which wa ere ace but dont want to trash them
So pretty much decided to treat myself to a pair of sportiva or similiar

In reply to woodsy:

As said before, fit is everything. I guess you're looking for a lightweight boot specifically targeted at rock routes, but that can do some snow and ice in good conditions as well?

Some suggestions:

Am the proud owner of a pair of trango s evo boots which fit like a glove.

In reply to woodsy: I've had a pair of Salomon Quests for the last 2.5 years and they still look as good as new. Not crampon compatible, but doing long days, I've found they look after me all the way and certainly fine for soloing mods and diffs.
