Hi all, Am looking for an outdoor climbing holiday as a present for my husband. He regularly climbs indoors, but has never climbed outdoors. Interested in portland, cornwall and lake district. All suggestions would be welcome.

A course at Plas Y Brenin, N Wales could be good. The instruction is excellent in my experience, you get get lectures about exciting climbing stuff in the bar in the evening, it's great. That was my first experience of outdoor lead climbing, taught me everything I needed to know.

In reply to seniorlodwick: I had my first outdoor climbing experience with a company called Mountain Momentum this summer. They're based in the Lake District. They were very professional and pitched everything at my level so I learnt loads. www.mountainmomentum.co.uk
