The price for my WF Evans frame/bike renovation might have just gone up by £100.

Probably finally get it done by next Xmas now. Oh well. ()

On the Revendell Bike Works website in the US, in the product description they said nobody has ever held one in thier hand in the shop and not left without buying one. ()

Think they might a bit ornate though, my frame already has nice cromed logs and shot in seat stays, and a nice seat tube lug...

In reply to Timmd: It's awful, looks like it's been created from an old coat-hanger!

Interesting how taste is so personal.

You probably won't like this either then. ()

They're ment for an old steel road frame made by FW Evans, quite ornate lugs.

In reply to Timmd:

for the style of frame i agree with the syle of your choice. if its anything other than quite a small frame i would consider no bottle cage or if you do 1 single cage on the seat tube
OP Timmd 16 Dec 2012
In reply to lost1977:It's a 56cm square frame.
 lost1977 16 Dec 2012
In reply to Timmd:

then 1 cage so the seat tube (practical and keeps the frame from look cluttered). 2 cages especially if you often ride without bottles looks wrong
OP Timmd 16 Dec 2012
In reply to lost1977:Was my great uncles', it's a bit flexy to be honest, but it needs a new paint job and new crome, so I might as well make it shiny and nice with shiny silver bits is my thinking, get it out of my system as it were and have one bike that's as much about nice shiny bits as how it rides.

Hopefully will stop buying bike bits off ebay afterwards, and searching for 'the perfect bike'. Decided it doesn't exist.

It's my bike so i'm having two cages.

There's some nice frames on there, I like the red and black and white bike with the lugged stem.

Have you heard of Field Cycles? They're a small and growing frame builder in Sheffield, just formed over the past year or two I think, I heard of them through a friend, best kind of advertising...

In reply to Timmd: do you know where abouts in sheffield they are?

In reply to Timmd:
A bike is intrinsically beautiful, but it's a utility device and doesn't need bling like this

Thats the problem with roadies - style over substance and afraid of getting their bikes muddy
