In reply to blackcat: try and sort a shared car and drive?
In reply to andy: Driving for a week-end in Cham is a bit much (driving time), and you would have to fill the car to make the cost of ferry, fuel and tolls economical. See how cheap a flight you can get into Geneva, which is an easy drive away. You can be in Cham about three hours after leaving London or wherever, so you would get *much* more time in Cham than if you drove. You can take public transport from Geneva if you don't want to drive a car. If you do fly to Geneva, get to the French side ASAP (which can be awkward), because Switzerland tends to be astronomically expensive.

In reply to blackcat: Depending on flexibility too, you could book on the morning of departure. Can get really cheap deals then!

Also worth checking out coachsurfers and what not, can always try and blag a free bed for a couple of evenings.

No idea where you are based, but at the moment flights are very cheap from Liverpool to Geneva

Please, no coach surfers allowed in Chamonix at the moment unless you fall into the extremely hot swedish chicks variety!
