Modify Black Diamond Deploy shovel as snow anchor?

Thinking about getting a snow shovel- the Mammut Alugator Super Light has a good feature in that it can double as a snow anchor, but I don't like the detachable handle (I'd probably lose it). The Deploy looks like it has the best handle design, but no holes in to use as an anchor.

Would it be dumb to make some of these holes in a deploy?

Uses - general snow stuff, possibly a deadman and hopefully not for avalanche rescue

Its got the holes already machined. I think it is designed to be used as a deadman also.

A couple of larger holes either side of the shaft would be handy so you could pass a sling through
