What do people recon my chances are of carrying a Petzl Meteor in my hand luggage? Any Ryanair horror stories?

In reply to Double Knee Bar:

I've seen plenty of people take ski helmets on as hand luggage - admittedly to obvious ski destinations - with no trouble.

In reply to Double Knee Bar: Never had trouble myself, done it on plenty of flights including some ryanair ones

Wear it, then it's not even hand luggage :-)

In reply to Double Knee Bar:

I've not had a problem over the years with either Meteor or older helmets. Given the job it is supposed to do I prefer to have it in my hand luggage. I reckon you could argue PPE as a good reason for carrying it as well.

In reply to Double Knee Bar: I've carried my meteor III on as handlugage a couple of times, once with easyjet and once with flybe, never had a problem so far.
