Topic - Good workouts

Hey, I'm new to climbing and I love it! I'm planning on working towards my SPA and to climb at every chance I get! Just wondering does anyone know any good workouts/exercises to improve strength and endurance in climbing? My friends who go to the gym only know those workouts that result with you in having no neck and walking round like you're carrying a carpet roll under each arm! Don't think that kind of training would help.....
