Hey, I'm new to climbing and I love it! I'm planning on working towards my SPA and to climb at every chance I get! Just wondering does anyone know any good workouts/exercises to improve strength and endurance in climbing? My friends who go to the gym only know those workouts that result with you in having no neck and walking round like you're carrying a carpet roll under each arm! Don't think that kind of training would help.....

There's a thread at the moment about doing stuff other than climbing to try to get good at climbing.

Climb more, once or twice a week to stand still, three to improve slowly or more to see good results, just like the gym or anything else really!

Things like pull-ups and finger rolls help a bit as does a strong core, but starting out is about so much more than just strength, you need to learn technique and body movement too.
