Planning to do a coast to coast ride from St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay this summer over around 7 days. Planning to do it on a mountain bike carrying bivi kit.
I know there is a road route and I have found some info on Tim Woodcock’s ‘Wheelwright’s C2C' and Dan Cook's version of this but the latter two sound a bit gnarly in places. I was wondering if anyone has done an off-road version but still fairly easy (trails, minor roads and easy single track - definitely no push ups!). My emphasis will be on the endurance side rather than technical side so don't mind going further to find nicer riding. Any thoughts?

You could consider utilising the route of this race

That looks like a great resource! Thanks for that, brill!
Has anyone had any experience of fitting panniers to their mountain bike? I'm planning to take a rucksack too but feel I might need to take some weight off my back. Any ideas?

In reply to Theho: hi there. I bought these a few months ago and both have coped really well on bumpy land rover tracks and singletrack.

Topeak super tourist dx

Crosso 60ltr roll top panniers.

Tried to insert a link but not allowed. Both easy to find on well known auction sites.
