A friend is heading to Aneto in a few days to climb it via the normal route. What is the snow like now and is it necessary for him to haul up crampons. Thanks

I have just seen some mobile phone photos from a friend who is helping a leg-amputee to get up via Coronas as I type. Looks like quite a bit of snow around (for the time of year), everyone in the photos is wearing crampons.
Avalanche debris visible below the Estasen couloir, which is to the right of the standard Coronas route. This is quite normal and normally does not affect the standard route.
