Heading out to the Alps at the end of the week, probably Switzerland, possibly Arolla.

After some acclimatisation we were thinking of the Dent Blanche South Ridge. Can anyone recommend the glacier crossing from the Bertol to the Dent Blanche hut? The Bertol hut website says it is possible and the AC guide mentions it, just wondering if there's any first hand advice out there before giving the hut a call.

Also, any up to date conditions reports from the Valais would be appreciated.

Not first hand but I was at the Bertol hut at the start of August and at least a dozen people were setting off for the Dent Blanche hut.

In reply to 4D6174: It's a good route as long as you have good visibility, either via the Tete Blanche or traversing lower on the Ferpecle side. Takes about 4 hours.
