Hi,
Just back from the dolomites. We used both the Mid Grade Trad Rock Western Dolomites (http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web... ) and Bâton Wicks - Classic Dolomite Climbs ( http://www.needlesports.com/Catalogue/Books-Maps-DVDs/Foreign-Climbing-Guid... ) guides.

I started a thread asking for advice on which guide to get and there was some difference of opinion (the thread is too old to post on now).

We found the colour picture topos in the Western Dolomites guides were not really big enough to be of much use during the climb, they aren't that much bigger than the black and white picture topos in the Classic Dolomites Climbs guide, mostly the only extra info they show is the stances and that is not particularly accurately represented.

We also found the pictagrams in the Classic Dolomites Climbs to be very accurate and easy to follow, whilst the text in the Western Dolomites guides was not as accurate or as easy to follow.

Also the routes in the Classic Dolomites Climbs were very often better than the routes in the Western Dolomites guides. For example the best routes of the trip (Route of Friendship and Tissi Route) were not in the Western Dolomites guides yet they include some routes they actually don't recommend!

All in we preffered the Classic Dolomites Climbs guide by quite a long way!
