Hey all,

Having completed the 10 peak (when including High Street and Goat Scar) Kentmere HS this last weekend I have probably one more weekend I can squeeze in before the end of the year with the boys for one more walk. As such I want to make it a good'un.

High Stile ridge is one, Fairfield HS is another. Nantlle Ridge would be a good one in Wales. Im looking to make good use of the time and want to know off a good few from the lists.

Thanks
Richard
In reply to TheDrunkenBakers: Here's a few possibles:

Eskdale Round http://www.ukhillwalking.com/logbook/r/?i=651
Lakeland 3000ers (plus a few) http://www.ukhillwalking.com/logbook/r/?i=483 - that's a 2-dayer for most mortals
North Pennines watershed http://www.ukhillwalking.com/logbook/r/?i=256

Nantlle Ridge http://www.ukhillwalking.com/logbook/r/?i=386 - not really that big a day out, but great
Welsh 3000s http://www.ukhillwalking.com/logbook/r/?i=125 - you could do just two ranges out of the three if the full thing seemed too much
Rhinogau north-to-south http://www.ukhillwalking.com/logbook/r/?i=79

Tons more to do in Scotland of course, so let me know if you want any recommendations here

In reply to TheDrunkenBakers: A full traverse of the Glyderau is good. Up from Bethesda to Carnedd y Filist then over Mynydd Perfedd (optional out and back to Elidir Fawr) - Foel Goch - Y Garn - Glyder Fawr - Glyder Fach (optional out and back to Tryfan) - Y Foel Goch - Gallt yr Ogof - Cefn y Capel. Down to Capel Curig for a pint.

A full traverse of the Snowdon range. From Beddgelert to Craig Wen - Yr Aran - Snowdon - Garnedd Ugain - Moel Cynghorion - Foel Goch - Foel Gron - Moel Eilio.

Or something in the Moelwyns. Ffestiniog up to Moelwyn Bach - Molewyn Mawr - Moel yr Hydd - Allt Fawr - Moel Druman - Ysgafell Wen - Moel Meirch - Carnedd y Cribau - Moel Siabod, and down to Capel Curig. That passes some very varied terrain.

All these are linear, but feasible with two cars/a bus/hitching a lift.

It's a big day out if you do it properly and go to the end (Mynydd Graig Goch), and then back via Cwm Pennant and Beddgelert Forest.

In addition to what's already been suggested:
Carneddau Traverse (Ogwen to Capel)
Pillar Horseshoe
Coledale Round
Newlands Round
Langdale skyline

Actually, now I come to think of it, it's hard to get out of the car in the Lake District without ending up on a classic ridge walk...

In fact, you can add various linkups of the Coniston Fells, Helvellyn and the Dodds, the Grisedale Round...

Ive done Pillar and the Langdale Pikes so I would want avoid those. Id forgotten about Newlands Round so defo good option. Carneddau is a good shout. Never heard of Coledale Round so will look than one up. Just looked it up, right next door to Newlands.

In reply to Mike Peacock: 'Properly'? hmm, not aware of any rules in the hills! A bigger day out though, true. Though still not 'that' big.

Shouldnt that read Ennerdale Circut? Just looked that up, wow, I can feel the thighs burning before I even start. Looks just like what I'm after and give me the chance to tick Black Crag which I missed when I did Pillar last time.

Although speaking of Eskdale circuits, the Woolpack Round is another good one...

Don't miss the McGillicuddies (spelling error I'm sure) HS just because its in Eire, Do that and Brandon for a weekend away you won't regret spending the ferry fare on.

Haha, you know what I mean. It's the natural ridge in its entirety rather than this stopping at Craig Cwm Silyn nonsense

In reply to Ramblin dave: A full traverse of the Carneddau goes from Drum in a semicircle to Llewelyn, Craig yr Ysfa etc.

In reply to altirando: Meant to add it is possible to make this into a circuit, parking at Rowen, so two cars are not necessary.

In reply to Ramblin dave: Even better is you line the Coledale Round and the Newlands Round together ........

In reply to TheDrunkenBakers: My part of the shire - did you sample a pint at the Hawkshead Brewery?
In reply to Baron Weasel: nope, the sun inn was the surrogate local.
