Hi

Does anyone have a recommendation of a ladies boot that is comfortable for large calves? Preferably something you have actually worn yourself, rather than just heard recommended or read the advertising blurb!

I have spent endless hours in shops in resort and at home to no avail. I've even tried men's boots but they don't work. So I've stayed with my very sloppy and old Decathlon pair.

But now I desperately need something stiffer and more responsive for 2014.

In reply to Babika: Have you tried a highly reputable specialist boot fitter? As you live in the Midlands Lockwoods at Leamington Spa should be able to help; especially if you are able to visit them mide week considering the time of year,

In reply to Babika: My girlfriend had the same issue, and after several seasons of being winged at for a the whole week we went to Anything Technical in Kendal, two and a half hours later we had a pair of boots that fitted, and the support of the shop should they need any minor tweaks. I now have to keep up with her when were out!

In reply to Babika: yep. Went to alpenstock in Stockport and after 2 hours of proper fitting inc wearing them while drinking coffee, came out with a perfect pair. They're a Salomon but can't remember which model exactly. Go get a proper fitting. Co:

In reply to Babika:
Steer clear of the men's boots - men's calves tend to be much higher than women's and so their boots are narrower higher up. Women's boots should be cut to accommodate a lower calf muscle.

Are you after touring or alpine boots?

In reply to Babika:

Hooray! That sounds very positive - I'll try Lockwoods as they're only 45 mins or so away.

What boot did your girlfriend buy out of interest?

In reply to Babika: I, without doubt, have 'cankles'. I have used Scarpa Diva's, F1's and their Gea's. All work good for me
