Anyone know if a direct ascent of this hill is possible from Corran village (where I'll be staying), so it gives you a full lenght ridge walk? Looks possible from OS maps but of course vegetation and deer fences may provide barriers.

The only routes I've found for west to east begin further up Glen Arnisdale, near Dubh Lochain.

Nothing on the map to say it would be a problem. The ridge looks like a series of flat ledges which trend up the way on the map. Geopraph has the following picture.

Thanks for that link to geograph. Had a look further west, http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/488040

Could be a bit of shrub bashing at the start of the ascent.

It is getting that time of year when the bracken and grasses are collapsing so should be easier.

I have to admit it was the way I did it and its one of my biggest regrets doing the grahams to not have done the whole ridge.

I think this guys link he walks back along the ridge to Corran

Thanks. I've contacted the guy for more info on his descent. It looks like a great ridge. One of those I'd love to camp out on if I got the weather and it wasn't winter (long, long nights)

I've done the ridge once and ended up in Corran. Don't remember any real issues and it's definitely ok once you're on the top. Fantastic views AIR.

In reply to Flinticus: Came down that way in 2010 - brilliant day out. I ended up climbing through someone's back garden, but I'm sure you can work out a better route if you are going up that way (probably follow the shore of Loch Hourn for a short while first). Going is steep and rough, but it is everywhere round there.

Your ascent of Beinn Clachach ressembled mine. I remember a steep scramble up heather covered friable rock.

Looking at your report, I may change my plan and do east to west so I will be facing west over the sea and in the direction of the setting sun.
