RE: Cheap accommodation in Ryukan (15th-22nd Feb 2014)
Can anyone offer any advice? I'm looking for the cheapest, reliable accommodation (for 2 to 4 people) in 'Ryukan' for the above dates.

I've had a look at the following so far:
~Gestegard Hostel £30+ P/N (I suspect it more than this, but it fully booked anyhow...)
~Climb Inn £78 P/N
~ Rjukan Gjestehus £83 P/N (so based on 2 sharing … £584 for 7 days!)
~ Hogstul Hytter (13 mi from Rjukan) £94 P/N

Or maybe you know a good website to compare prices? The best ones I know are:
www.trivago.co.uk
www.travelsupermarket.com
http://hotelscomparison.com (Although I get: destination could be found)

In reply to ERU: try the old school hostel, it's around 5-10 min drive from Rjukan but you can always grab a lift, it's cheap and friendly and the buses stop outside it.

In reply to ERU:

By Norway/ Rjukan standards, the Climb Inn is 'cheap'. I'd also try the Old School Hostel if I was you, but that too won't be 'cheap'. Sterling's been losing value against the krone for a while now - which just makes things even worse.

You could rent a s/c cabin or stay in a hostel but buying food in the supermarkets is also mouth-wateringly expensive. We stayed at Rjukan Hytteby, who will charge you about £700 for a small cabin for a week. I can't remember whether there's an additional tourist tax on top. Someone on here will know ...

Thanks for the replies. We are now staying at the 'Rjukan Old School Hostel' (£23 PerPerson/PerNight): www.facebook.com/rjukanoldschoolhostel?ref=ts&fref=ts
